Certificate Program - Court Reporting Program

Objectives: Upon successful completion of this program the student will be proficient in verbatim recording and transcribing skills using the machine shorthand method. The student will also develop medical and legal vocabulary skills and a basic understanding of the legal process in which he or she shall be working. The student will possess the necessary background to become a professional court/conference reporter.

Graduation Standards: Texas State Certification and National Certification require 225 wpm. For graduation students are required to do a verified internship of 60 hours. A student must be able to take machine shorthand dictation at 225 wpm at 95% accuracy. A student must pass a minimum of two 5-minute timed writings from unfamiliar material at a minimum of 60 gross words per minute with a maximum of 5 errors. The student must also complete at least 60 verified hours of extern/internship, of which a minimum of 40 hours shall be in actual writing time.

Network Operations Technician

This program will prepare the student not only hands on experience but also the practical side of running a hair styling studio. During the year, the student will be taught the rules and regulations of the Texas Cosmetology Commission. They will be exposed to the theory and skills of shampooing, hair and scalp treatment, haircutting, chemical hair relaxing, and hair styling, shaping, and manicuring.

This program will prepare the student to instruct others in the field of cosmetology. With hands on experience and overall operations of running a hair styling studio. They will be exposed to the theory and skills of shampooing, hair and scalp treatment, haircutting, chemical hair relaxing, and hair styling, shaping, and manicuring.
